Night Closures On Bear Lake Road April 6 2012

The night closure times for the Bear Lake Road reconstruction project in Rocky Mountain National Park are changing.  Beginning on Sunday night, April 8, through May 18, the road will be closed from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. nightly Sunday nights through Friday mornings. The closures will take place from the junction of Trail Ridge Road/US 36 and Bear Lake Road to the Big Thompson River Bridge.

Moraine Park Campground will be open; however campers will need to plan ahead for the night closures.  The closure area will soon be moving pass the junction to Moraine Park Campground and will therefore allow full access to the campground.

The Bear Lake Road reconstruction project involves 5.1 miles of road and access to another 4.3 miles. There are 110 miles of road in the park. This project does not include Trail Ridge Road.  Information on the Bear Lake Road Reconstruction Project is available at www.nps.gov/romo, the park’s recorded road status line (970) 586-1222, or through the park’s Information Office at (970) 586-1206.
