Cardiac incident incident in RMNP Aug 16 2011

At 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, park dispatch was notified by cell phone that a 58-year-old male was unconscious and near the outlet of Emerald Lake in the Bear Lake area of Rocky Mountain National Park. A bystander was administering Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Park rangers, involved in a body recovery mentioned in a previous news release, were near the Bear Lake Trailhead. Most of the rangers responded to this emergency call and reached the 58-year-old man at 2:28 p.m. Rangers began advanced medical care but the man remained unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s name and hometown will not be released until next of kin are notified.
