Anybody bought any "Trail Tags” patches? http://www.rmconnection.com/TRAILTAGS.htm.
We started buying these for the kids after we had gone a few hikes.

Yeah. I don't remember how many I have though. My hope is to someday laminate a map of Rocky and attach all of my tags to it. Cheap, sentimental wall art. I gotta get my thrills somewhere. Rocky is the best. :D

Misssilly, I guess great minds think alike!! As a matter of fact I need to pick some up when I'm there this month. I was gonna use a National Geographic map but they're two sided so I'll have to find something else or hang it on a glass wall!

We purcahsed them the last 2 years for the kids it gives them another reason to complete a trail. We went in May of 2003 and my oldest daughter did a project for school (2nd grade at the time) on her trip to RMNP. She created a journal which included trip reports, photos and those trail patches. It was very cool.

Yep, started out with the kids but Mom and Dad got into it and after 12 years have quite the collection. We also started getting a patch for each US national park we've hiked in, and one for each country. But Rocky is special and that is the one we do patches for each trail. I've seen a couple of folks have them on their backpacks.

We have bought several for our son Josiah, and Brynn (my wife) sews them onto a jacket that we have with us on the trips to CO. I think he's done 15 or so destinations so far, and its really cool to look at.

I think we will start this with our girls after this years trip. They will have enough to make it 'cool'. Maybe we can do a shadow box in their rooms with some cool pics or something.

Last year I bought a trail "medalion" to tack onto my walking stick (pole?) at the National Forest Service's Blanchard Springs here in AR. It is a little bigger than a quarter and slightly curved. I have not seen these in RMNP outlets...but I would LOVE to have one of those! Does anyone know about them?

I have the Flattop patch in my journal between the pages where I wrote/drew about the trail and my climb up. I'm thinking this will be a "destination" year for the kids, too, so these patches will be a great idea for them, too.

I'll be buying them for my son to have sewn onto his backpack. He'd like that.

Two maps would solve that problem.

I took 2 National Geographic Maps of RMNP, cut and spliced them to make 1, so we could put different colored map pins for each years destinations and TH,s. Since my wife and I each have 35 Trail Patches, (plus some needed to cover ones missed due to depleted store stock), I taped one set of them together verticaly by year with one different larger RMNP patch at the top of each colum. This is all located on on large buliten board. Turned out real nice. :D ;) peace.gif PS Also used Trails Illistrated map cover and ledgend on the board as well as the RMNP map give at the entrance of the park. --(folded) peace.gif

Where can you buy the patches besides on-line? Do they have them for other NPs or is this strictly a RMNP thing?

Many of the stores in the EP and GL areas carry them, including the Trail Ridge Store.

Like waterrat said they're in many stores in Grand Lake and Estes Park. I would guess there are patches for other national parks as well.
