I've never known her to just flat-out ATTACK someone like that.

(go to your happy place)

Tis Crazy... she isn't ever going to sell JInks one of those multi-million dollar listings being mean like that.

Wow - Congrats to all!

But seeing those pictures of the homestretch makes me wonder - how do you get down? It makes me think I could go up, but coming down I'd be a little freaked out...

I am hoping it looks worse than it is - from pictures I must say I think the homestretch scares me more than the narrows. I'll find out in a week hopefully.

It looks worse than it is. You'll do fine.

(This time last week I was hiking in Glacier Gorge above Black Lake. Today I'm sitting in an airport dealing with flight delays. Life.)

I agree. I've never seen a shot of the homestretch that looks as cool as that one.

Well, you'll notice that everyone has at least one hand on the rock. Obviously, they're all holding on and leaning back to make it look like it isn't as steep...
Yeh, I love the shot too. It Really shows the rock fractures, one thing I've not study to well when there because I usually blast up the Home Stretch and just enjoy the climbing with the way the route is so clean and polished giving great footing.
So, it looks like I'll get my chance soon. I'm backpacking west of Vail this weekend and then depending on weather we'll head up Longs soon after the backpack trip. Hopefully no more than two weeks wait as I'm getting excited about it already.
Good job Mr. Jinks

I've always said "no way" to Longs, but the more I look at pictures, the more it makes me fear it and yet want to say "I did that!". So I guess I'll just have to keep thinking about this one for someday, and hopefully I won't put off someday until I don't ever have the chance...

Excellent report, Mr. Jinks. Congratulations to you and your group!

That is exactly how I feel Lora! And the smiles on everyone's faces tells you that no amount of effort made it not worth it. Mr. Jinks, you did such a good job of showing us what it is really like -- and how impressive an accomplishment summiting that great mountain really is. The photos are spectacular!

I don't believe you tho that the home stretch isn't as bad as it looks. I remember at our last GTG, Smudge, the guy who ambles up Flattop in a jog in flip-flops said the Home Stretch gets him even more than the narrows. To me. . .that says it has to be even worse than it looks. But that is an impressive picture to give us an idea!

Now I'm going back to read Miss Lucy's version :)

Great report and pics Jinks!!! Oh man, those pictures do bring back some great memories (23 years ago).

And gang, the Homestretch really is not as bad as it looks. Hand and foot holds everywhere. You come down parts of it on your behind though.
