I've decided to use LibSyn to distribute the podcasts. I'll still use talkshoe for recording though. Anyone have experience changing the feed with iTunes?

Here's the new podcast feed.... http://rmnpodcast.libsyn.com/rss

I should add that I don't have direct access to the xml file for the podcast (one reason I'm going to libsyn), so using the itunes 'newfeed' tag won't work unless I can get talkshoe to manually add that into the xml file.

My Blog reader updates from both places.

Aaron, not sure what you mean. iTunes pulled it up just fine for me.

I do not understand the meaning of these words. Why you speak in such manner?

(I've got no idea what you're talkin' about, but the show was great! Kind of a RMNP All-star team!)

Okay, here's my problem....

iTunes is distributing it fine.

podcatching software will get it fine.

Here's the catch....those two things (iTunes and podcatchers) are getting them from a feed (the talkshoe feed) that I no longer want to be used as the distribution source. I would like to change it to libsyn as the source.

This means that iTunes and podcatchers will need to know the proper feed url. This is easy to do for podcatchers, but you have to have control of the feed's XML file in order to edit it in a way that tells iTunes that the feed url has been changed and that it (iTunes) should from now on use the updated feed source url.

The problem is that with talkshoe I have no control over the XML file. And so I was wondering if there is any other way to let iTunes know that the source url should be different.

Eventually I will phase out talkshoe as the distribution source for the podcasts and move everything over to libsyn. This accomplishes many 'control issues' I have regarding the podcast content. Among my control freaking issues is the ability to manage an XML file, have complete/full ownership of the content, and be able to run the advertising of my choosing. I've got an email out to the support peeps at talkshoe in hopes that they can tweak the XML file for me.

Make sense? It was all greek to me until I experienced it. Trail by fire is a good learning tool.

Oh. It makes so much more sense to me now. You moved but the Post Office won't let you change your address for mail delivery.

As long as he doesn't use the word "upgrade" I'm not sweating it.

Here's the 'fix' I must resort to.....

I have to delete my feed listing with iTunes and then I'll have to resubmit the podcast to their directory with the new feed url I'm using. Pretty stupid, but it's the only way to change away from a feed I have no control over.

I don’t know if this will help you. I use News Crawler as my RSS reader. Once every hour News Crawler checks for update on all my feeds. I use for http://rmnpodcast.libsyn.com/rss to check for update to your podcast. I also still have your old location http://recordings.talkshoe.com/rss21509.xml . Maybe you can use http://rmnpodcast.libsyn.com/rss for feed url.

Yeah, I'm going to use the libsyn url......long story. Basically via talkshoe I couldn't have access to my xml file to insert some code into it that would tell iTunes to change the feed url to libsyn. So I had to delete my listing with iTunes and now I have to relist it with the updated url, i.e. libsyn url.
