This is kind of for personal reference. All of the hikes above are hikes I and my family have not done. Popular hikes we have done include Mills Lake, Sky Pond via Timberline Falls and the Loch, Emerald Lake, Adams Falls, and Ouzel Falls. I tried to include hikes in various parts of the park. If you vote other, tell me where and why! I love to learn more about where to hike. Even if I don't get there its cool to hear your stories and experiences.

Tough call, any of these destinations would be a great day hike - but I always tend to vote for summits as my favorite places. I voted for Mount Ida because most of this hike is above timberline and has spectacular panoramic views. This is also a great area to see alpine wildflowers and bighorn sheep, and I also love the view down to the Gorge Lakes from Ida's summit. I'm attaching two pics from the hike.

Of the ones that I've done on that list, I'd go to Odessa Lake if I only had a day.

I voted for Mt. Ida, not because I've been there but because it's high on my list of places I want to go for the very reasons that Mike mentioned.

Gorgeous pics Mike. I'd love to hike either of those areas. Wish I could be there today!!

Thanks for the input, keep it up! there's only 6 or 7 votes on the poll. Even the election did better than that!

I just realized I commented on the pics but didn't put my fav hike. It's hard to choose, but mine would be the Ypsilon hike. We've done that several times, and it's a great one!!

We've done all of these hikes at least once with the exception of Thunder Lake and Thunder Pass. Looks like we need to put Thunder Lake on our to do list!

Ab-so-lutely loved Odessa, but Thunder has become my Mt. Everset! sigh.gif It seems everytime we try to hike it something happens & we have to cancel. We've made Ouzel Falls, but can't seem to get past there.

Thunder Lake has given me some trouble too. No problem getting there, but when I got there it was snowing and I couldn't see much. I'll be back.

I chose Thunder Lake because I've always wanted to go there but the one time we headed up that direction I think Bill hurt his foot or something. . . but hearing Mike's description of Mt. Ida, that may now be way up there on the "must do" list. I think Black Lake may be a "way up there" hike -- especially after the pictures and trip report recently posted! I think I'm getting really "homesick" for the mountains again :(

I think we are going to make that a "must" on our next trip up there. I'm so envious of you guys going on the snowshoe stomp getting to go in just a few weeks again. You're going to have so much fun!

There are two votes for "Other" and no response as to what that means! Come on guys, how am I supposed to know? Or is there a destination called Other Lake, or Other Peak? caribou.gif

Or maybe the destination in mind is Grand Lake? icecream.gif

Off to do battle with the Dark Side, uh, I mean the endless piles of work on my desk.
