Since spring is coming, maybe a spring topic. Like:

Wildflower Viewing - Best spots and what you will see
Wildflower Preservation - Importance of staying on-trail
Waterfalls - Spring run off

Other ideas:
Local residents' top picks/secret places...whether it be in RMNP or eating in town
Wildlife in the park...what's safe, what's not. Misconceptions and truths. Statistics. What to do when confronted. (would make a good in-depth topic sometime?)
Privies, where you can find them, where you can't. <-- for John caribou.gif

I really like Jo's wildlife/environment issues idea and also Jim's history suggestion.

...I'll keep thinking.

Maybe some time you could do one with forum members who have a long history with the park discussing how it has changed (and what has remained the same) since their first visit.

Good idea. ...Or perhaps how it has influenced us. Some of us grew up there. yup.gif

I would like some research done on when the first Elk Fajita was eating by the Ute Indians in Moraine Park. Where they got there tortillas, how they cooked the meat, where they got the fajita seasoning, what sort of fixin's did they put on the actual fajita, etc...

And did they even call it a fajita? Maybe it was called a Rallindallo, or a Schichsa...

I like the idea of the nature focus podcasts, of course :)

You probably would want to break that down in the groups of animals or plants. Mammals, Birds, Flowers

A history of the park in a series, nature (forest fires, hunting and predator erradication, reintroduction), human history of the great names of the park like Sprague, and Mills, and maybe the resorts that have since been reclaimed by the wilds. It would be really cool to have someone come on that stayed at Sprague's lodge, or one of the various lodges that used to be in Moraine park.

Theme wise you could go broad and then focus in, like do a mammals show, then just one on Elk when they decide on the population management plan.

During the summer the vacation based show would be cool, what a first time should do, see, and stay.

Winter in the Park, for after the summer.

I think you should focus on doing some solid RMNP content such as has been listed by many in the suggestions above. I do however think at some point in the near future you really should do an interview with Smudge about his childhood and adventures in RMNP. I think humor plays a key role in this forum and it would be good to have an interview that represents this from time to time.

I don't know what amuses you so much about my thirst for knowledge Jen. Maybe it is my misuse of the words there, their, they're, and thur.

One that might be very popular with new forumers coming to do research is a discussion on the best hikes in the park. I know we talk about that a lot here, but to here a discussion about the hikes with some stories and talk about what there is to see along the way might be very interesting.

Idea 2: altitude sickness, prevention, etc.

Idea 3: John's obsession with privies - psychosis or healthy obsession? Talk amongst yourselves.

His childhood really interests me. I heard it on good authority that he was raised inside a peanut butter jar and existed solely on potted meat from ages 3-7.

I actually lived on potted peanut butter and lived in a meat jar. But you're soooo close!

(Aaron, I agree with Erik that you should do a solid RMNP content show for now, but once your podcast has been up and running a while, you should do something that long time forumers will really get a kick out of....like interviewing Smudge!)
