The first show was packed full of info. 99MB....yeah, that was packed!! The next show I'd like to keep it much simpler for time, and research. Last week took hours to prep for, and hours to record, and hours to produce. I don't mind doing that....but I just don't have enough time to plan ahead if I'm always doing an 'in-depth' show like that one. I'd like to have one for this coming week that wouldn't require tons of prep work, and about 40-60 mins of recording. (took me about 5hrs to do the editing work on the first show!! ohmy.gif)

So, how about y'all throw out some ideas for topics that could be chewed on in a 'roundtable' style podcast episode? I may pick the winner myself or leave it open to voting. Either way, please help out with topic suggestions. Keep in mind it'll be a roundtable discussion including forum members who are knowledgeable on the topic chosen.

Currently suggested topics:
-Historical topic on EP area
-Photography show with forums experts
-call-in w/traditions
-wildlife/environmental issues
-backcountry safety
-smudge and pants
-Spring activities
-Long term visitors/park history
-Altitude sickness/prevention

Don't know how many history buffs are in the forum but howzabout a topic on the history of the Park from the time of Griff Evans to Abner Sprague and others? Maybe get ahold of one of Enos Mills daughters/granddaughters. I spent over an hour talking to Enda Mills Kiley (Enos' only daughter) a few years ago. I felt like I was in the presence of Royalty! Definatley an area treasure.

Sometime I'd like Erik and the other "real" photographers to do a show on "tips for taking better pictures" in the park. It should be presented in "layman's terms" for those of us who don't know an f stop from a bus stop.

When you are ready for a "call-in-show", I think it would be neat to have people call in with their RMNP traditions. Ex: we always like to have a picnic at Sprague Lake and then take a leisurely walk around it on our first day there.

Good one Jenny! And perhaps you could have a show or part of a show on most commonly asked questions on the forums like, "favorite hikes: short, medium, and long, best way to spend a day, etc.

I know an episode all about MONGO. It would not require alot of prep time. It would be a short show. You would not have to do alot of editing. Yep a show about MONGO. whistling.gif ciao.gif

I'm still not entirely sure what a podcast is whistling.gif (I have to listen to the last one when I get back home). But I'm still cheeky enough to suggest topics: Maybe something on wildlife/environmental issues in the park (Misssilly?)? Perhaps also a segment on hiking safely in the backcountry in different weather conditions with people like Big Al, Smudge, R from A, Malok, and others...

Oh no! A platform for Misssilly to vent????? Suggest a title change on the last idea for the guys you listed: "Hiking dangerously in the backcountry." They are experts! jester.gif

It could lead to a Red Stripe endorsement!
I would love to hear you interview Smudge! That would make for an interesting show!

I think I'd love to hear that! Being part of a 'regular' conversation with that guy is a trip in itself! laugh.gif

I'd gladly talk about the park and its flowers. But I'd rather that be part of a call-in type show or something. Spewing Latin names for an hour would even bore me. wink2.gif
