You mean I have to wait until tomorrow to hear this thing?! I feel SO discriminated against as a dial-up user! neener.gif

Seriously, John didn't talk about privies? Did Aaron cut out the part where he called me a FREAK?

Oh, and I have a copy of the article from Dr. Romme. If you want a copy, PM with a regular email address I can send it to... it's a huge file.

Excellentemundo!! Since I listened to you live the other night I was more interested in hearing Bee & John. That was weird. John sounds like I imagined Bee to sound & Bee sounded like I thought John should blink.gif . I kept waiting for John to break into a Jimmy Swaggert voice - "Pit-uh zips-uh" or "John-uh the Gear-uh Geek-uh!" laugh.gif Seriously, I thought all went well and I really enjoyed the final product. Looks like we've got a winner - good job, passenger boy!

I just now finished listening to the final product. I've probably spent about 8 hours listening to the content of the podcast. I'm very familiar with everything said in this episode. What do y'all think about the points brought up in the podcast such as....

--All that wood in Colorado, and yet 70% of wood used for building projects, firewood, etc, comes from outside the state.
--Steep uphill efforts to educate landowners
--How fire control has effected conditions favoring the MPB, as well as drought and warmer climate conditions
--'Control' and prevention measures
--The MPB's role in nature
--Etc, etc, etc...

I listened to the live cast the other night and thought it was great. Terrific job, Aaron. Today I listened to the taped version. Also great. John and Bee you both did outstanding jobs, kudos. Can't wait for it all to happen again next week.

Oh my gosh, you're right! They do sound opposite of what I imagined.

I just finished listening to the whole thing. I, too, wasn't sure I'd find pine beetles very interesting, but it was! bee.gif did a great job and so did the that geek guy. wink.gif

Really super job, Aaron. It was well done and sounds so professional from beginning to end. You should be very proud!

(Where do we make suggestions for the next one?)

I started listening in my recliner at work and I must confess that I was thinking it was going to be the perfect subject to nap to. But surprisingly I got into it after listnening a for a while. I was really disturbed at the pine beetle work last year in the Park and was hoping or a severly cold winter to stave off the spread of red trees. But after listening to the experts I see that they are a neccessary part of forest health.

The point that really sunk in with me was when the guy said that the 3 ways to keep a forest healthy were to thin it with logging, fires or the mountain pine beetle. His statement that to keep a healthy forest around forever you have to choose between loggers, firetrucks or beetles. Personlally I'd prefer the slow process of beetles to fires or logging. It should be interesting over the next couple decades to see the process of dying trees and regrowth.

Keep up the good work Aaron!

I was just cruising through some photos from the hikes I took with Glenn last Fall. Here's a pic of a tree with pine beetle infestation....
