Greg, Erik and I would like to have you order up some nice weather for us to accomodate a good sunrise, and good lighting conditions. Keep us informed on our weather order.

I'll rent some snowshoes somewhere in Estes Park

There's only one shop in Estes that rents the snowshoes with training wheels on them. I pm'd the shop info to you. Didn't want to embarass you in front of everyone.

Thanks! I appreciate it! Who ever would have thought they made such things? I guess we never would have found out if you hadn't found the snowshoe walker! geezer.gif wheelchair.gif disguise.gif

And clear roads between Lincoln and Estes Park. Also clear skies between Pittsburgh and Denver. Then once we get there if you could use your pull, Greg, to make it snow overnight...that would be great!

Aaron - Do you have a rough idea when ya'll are attempting to get together? I've got some vacation time coming and if it works out I would like to hit the trails with you guys.
We did some snowshoeing up and around Bear Lake last December and had a blast!
So make me a definite maybe, pending more details!!

Bill

Well it's pretty loose guesstimate for the end of January. How does the very last weekend in January sound? That'd be so cool if you could make it Bill! We'll figure out a solid date sooner or later. If that weekend works for enough people we'll go with it.

Wow! Sounds like a good time, and good opportunity to meet many of you while getting my first chance to go "shoeing". five.gif But that is exactly the problem I would worry about. It would be my first time. Don't think it would be, beyond my capabilities as far as learning and can't be too much harder than hiking. But more of a concern to me, would be that I would hold all you good folks up. I love to hike, but I have to stop to breath often. Ofcourse I would gladly train as much as possible to get a little bit better in shape, but would not at all feel bad if you all would prefer not chancing a newbie. I'll give it some thought. Its a ways off and I could always cancel if needed. For sure would contribute a good fair share of gas, etc. shakehands.gif Aron, we are only 100 miles apart. How many could ride together? Just going to think about it, kick it around alot! I would even be willing to run over to Lincoln some weekend to meet you, get acquainted, and discuss abilities, possibilities, etc. Email me personally if ya want. Love road trips. :D  whistling.gif ;) Love The Mountains! Love The Mountains! Love The Mountains! :D Yep! "Ride Due West Till The Sunsets"----------- :D

Malok, normal winter conditions says the end of January would be perfect. It really depends on teh storm track and how consistent it will be dropping snow on RMNP. Based on the norms though, I would say go for it in January.

Don't sweat holdin' anyone back. We're out there to have fun and enjoy snowshoeing. Also, we'll have two snowshoeing groups. That way one group can blaze the trail, and the other can take a slower pace. Plus, that faster group will be leaving really early.

We could also carpool, if everything works out, since you're in Iowa and so close to us.

there is a chance, about 25% probability, that i could get the use of the ranger cabin at Thunder lake for the group. If we settle on a date i will contact the superintendent and ask.
