One of the great things about RMNP this time of the year is that you don't have to get up at the crack of dawn to beat the crowds. We got to the Cub Lake Trailhead at 10 a.m. and there was only one other car there.

There were clouds building in the distance, but at the beginning of our hike the weather was nice and the views were awesome!

We FINALLY got to see some aspens in the park that hadn't lost all their leaves. Even the barren ones still had pretty trunks.

We got to Cub Lake and had to put on our rain jackets to fight off the wind and spitting rain.

While we ate our lunch, ducks kept us entertained.

The weather was getting worse, so we decided not to continue over the hill to the Fern Lake trail and instead just enjoy the walk back.

Just as we neared the trailhead, we ran into about 30 elk. Here are some of them.

This evening we had dinner with Malok and RMBrit, and it was awesome being with them. Bad weather is coming in tomorrow, so we're not sure what we are going to do. We'll have fun regardless!
