I have seen Abert's twice. Once at Upper Beaver Meadows and last May on the Gem Lake trail.  The ones I saw seemed to be a darker all black color, but I am pretty sure are the same species. They scurry very quickly and it is my understanding we are lucky when we see them.  There ear tufts are pretty cool looking.
