Great report and pictures!  Where is DeLeos? What do they serve?

DeLeo's is in the Park Theater building...it's a deli, and it's great.

Thanks for the kind words on the pics...I'll put in some more tomorrow.

We arrived in EP Friday evening at 6:30...only to find a still-crowded town with long waits at restaurants.

Believe it or not, before we left Wednesday afternoon we were saying how sad it was to see Estes Park so deserted. The night before we practically had the Grubsteak all to ourselves.

(Speaking of which, don't bother trying to order any of the most popular beers that soon after Elk Fest ends. I finally just said, "So what do you still have?")

Great pics and trip report. We had many "people stopped in the middle of the road" encounters. Gets a little trying at times, but what are ya going to do?

Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Good for you.

Yes, smudge told us Saturday about the weekend before...(he was at an A&M game so this is "hearsay"). Apparently cars were backed up from the Fall River entrance as far as the lodge, and restaurants ran out of food! It was the busiest weekend ever for EP, even more than the 4th of July or other big holidays. Our weekend was a bit slower than that (!), and all day Sunday you could see the exodus of the big RVs and campers and so on...I'm pretty sure the town is quiet today. Especially if they got the 2 to 6 inches of snow predicted for last night. caribou.gif

I can confirm that! It was crazy! That weekend put both of the 4th of July weekends to shame that I've been in Estes. That was the first time I've disliked being in Estes Park. It took me almost over 20 minutes to go two blocks on Elkhorn. I sympathize with all the locals for putting up with the elk tourons.
