Hello,

I am about to start a research paper for my college english class about potential reintroduction of grey wolves in the park to control the elk population. Does anyone know where I can find any information, current news, articles, etc. on this topic? Possible names of folks for an interview? "Academic" sources are preferred, but I am just looking for anything to start with.

I did a search on these forums, and this post (the one with the poll) is the most I could find.

Thanks in advance for any help! caribou.gif

Hey Sean,

I have resources everywhere. But it will take me a while to get everything together. If you know how to find journals on-line at your university (or through their publishers), I can give you a list of journals to look through.

You also should look at the NPS websites. (http://www.nps.gov) Go through their "Science" section. RMNP's website isn't the most complete site, but if you want general information about how the NPS handles issues like wolf reintroductions, species interactions, etc., Yellowstone NP has a HUGE website -- and I might suggest you read the journals (more park-related, less scholarly, if you know what I mean) that Yellowstone's researchers contribute to. These are listed at some point on the Yellowstone publications page.

Thanks for your reply Jen! I can search the library's journals online, so a list would be really helpful. I have looked at RMNP's website and didn't find much. YNP's site is a great suggestion, I hadn't thought of it.

Just curious, what is your interest in the subject? Thanks again for your help!

Maurice,

You might try to interview Kyle Patterson, Public Information Officer, Rocky Mountain National Park, 970-586-1363. She would definitely add some weight to the paper and would be a good excuse to head to the park for the live interview. yup.gif

Great links Aaron! That should give him some good information for his paper. I found it to be quite interesting!

Now you're just being mean, John! neener.gif

Sean, I'm a grad student in Natural Resources at Colorado State. nerd.gif

I just hang out here so these dorks have someone to tease. (They get so much of it; keeping it bottled inside would just cause bigger problems later. Problems I don't want to deal with! pokefun.gif )
