Quiet place with great views.

The Smiling Elk is a cleancut restaurant on the upper level of a mall-type building on Virginia Dr., just north of Elkhorn & McGregor. The menu varies from fancy sandwiches to plain ol' burgers, but the atmosphere feels a bit more upscale and less lodge-like than, say, the Grubsteak. There are some nice nature paintings on the walls. The service is good, and there's outdoor seating that overlooks downtown Estes. It's by no means a gourmet restaurant (5 stars), but I'd go back anyday for good food and lots of space to spread out.

Food Quality: 3/5 stars
Menu Variety: 4/5 stars
Service: 3/5 stars
Ambience: 3/5 stars
Overall: 3/5 stars
