What a great report - love the details and personal thoughts included. We are going to do this hike for the first time in early October - absolutely can not wait!

PS - you should get something really sparkly for surprising him with such an awesome weekend.

I agree! An emergency signal mirror in case you get lost on the trail would be perfect!

Some of those mirrors have a hole in the middle to help with spotting but it could be worn as a ring if you put her finger through the hole. One of those emergency space blankets is really sparkly also and even very romantic if used in the right way, through it does make a crinkly noise which can be a little annoying. But nothing that trwoo wuv can't overcome!
