Hello all.....

Wondered if there is a health food store or natural foods grocery store in Estes Park such as a Wild Oats, or Trader Joes, etc. We are looking for a store that offers organic and whole foods. We also, specifically prefer rice milk. We don't drink cow's milk and are not too keen on soy milk.

Is there a place called Buckweat's or is out of business?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, Mark, great question! I don't know the exact answer...so locals like LSmith, BigAl, Malok, RMBrit...you guys step up. I do know that if you fly in to Denver and drive up, or if your drive in comes up through Boulder, there is a Wild Oats there. Plus as a "groovy" college town lots of even more interesting whole foods to the max kinds of places are there. Even the Safeway has an incredible selection of organics and bulk items and "whole" foods. Depending on your route into Estes, there could be a stock-up possible in one of the "almost there" bigger towns.

Ok, locals, what's there?

There's no Trader Joes or Wild Oats in EP, but I think Buckwheats is still there.
I think it is just down from the Warming House hiking store, as you approach
the turn-off to Mary's Lake on the way to the Beaver Meadow park entrance.
I'm sure the local EP'ers can give you better directions.

Try the Safeway. Just off Big Thompson Ave, near where it intersects St. Vrain Ave.

If you come up through Boulder, there is also Whole Foods store which would probably have what you're looking for.

I was thinking of Buckwheats too, down from the Warming House. Safeway does have a small "healthy" section too, with I think rice milk and a limited selection of organic foods.

Our Safeway recently expanded their organic sections. Gotta compete with a Wal-Mart down the street soon! I never noticed Buckwheats. I'll have to check it out next time!

Jay, you got that right. The Whole Foods in Boulder is awesome. I highly recommend it!

At least as of last September there was a place called "Buckwheat & More". We always go there to get our bread and stuff. Unfortunately, Bill leads and I follow and don't pay too much attention to exact directions.

I hope its still there because Safeway doesn't have the kind of bread I need :(

Couldn't resist that on a holiday weekend, beginning of College Football Season (see smudge's Merry Christmas post for the reason for all caps here!) Saturday...

Fort Collins is in the opposite direction, but they, too, have an awesome Whole Foods. I'm looking forward to shopping there in 18 days!

We saw Whole Foods in Ft. Collins when we drove through in May. Jen do you know if it's a Super Wbole Foods. Those particular ones are much bigger than the other ones. All and All though, Whole Foods is awesome. We love to shop and eat there too. Unfortunately we don't have one in Bellingham, so we have to make the 85 mile trek south to Seattle, but it's worth it.

Would Loveland have anything.? We usually stop there before we head up the canyon, to pick up things we know would be pricier in Estes.

According to the Whole Foods web site, Boulder and Fort Collins are the closest locations. There are 5 in the Denver metro area, and one in CO Springs.
