Regarding webpages . . . . if someone wanted to use webhost4life or lunarpages, do you have to sign a long term contract????  I see that webhost has templates for webpages - - are they easy to build???  Does Lunarpages have templates also? Is it easy to post pictures???

You can get free templates from quite a few places on the net. I don't know if Lunarpages offers them. It wouldn't be that hard to find some free ones. I could help point you in the right direction for some free templates if you'd like. I'm pretty sure LunarPages does monthly contracts as well as a yearly contract. For obvious reasons I go yearly. I don't expect to be leaving them anytime soon.

Aaron, I would love to know where those sites are that offer free templates. I am into creating my own stuff, but I still like seeing what is out there and what I can incorporate into sites I am working on.

Thanks,

What do you consider long?
Webhaost4life requires you to pay by the year, but you can cancel at any time. Webhost4life Terms and Conditions
I never use pre made templates, I always make my own. (I could help you with yours)
Webhost4life has a very nice control panel that will allow you to upload your files you can also ftp your files. To post pictures you can use the control panel or ftp. Webhost4life and LunarPages supports scripting Language, webhost4life supports asp.net (the scripting Language I use) so you could use script to upload/post pictures.
In the gallery section of Jefferson County’s web site I have made a page were viewers can post pictures, give it a try http://gallery.jfcountyks.com/uploadImg.aspx.
I have not used the referral link before but I will do the same as Aaron and send the commission your way. referral link

A year is not too long. My hubby has been thinking of making a web page for his family's business where he works. Very, very basic!!! Name of business, location, hours, products offered, and "contact us" kind of thing. Maybe even a picture of the front of their building. He said people call and ask, "Do you have a website?" You feel like you are from the dark ages if you don't. Doesn't expect a lot of hits. It's just something that has been on the back burner for a while.

Regarding premade templates: Last night I was playing around with our ISP's personal web pages that they allow each subscriber to make. My son wants to make one about cars. He LOVES cars. Then I pulled up Microsoft Publisher wherein I found some templates. I was SLOWLY playing around with them, but then my 11 y/o son took over, knew more than I, and started clicking around and made a sort of sample site for my husband's work in no time. Boy did I feel old.
geezer.gif

Then to feel even older, my 9th grader tells me that she just finished using Microsoft Front Page Publisher in school to make a report on Diabetes. The teacher wants the kids to be tech savvy, so instead of the old "write a report" - they had to make a website about their topic. yltype.gif

Anyway, I showed my hubby the LunarPages and the Webhost4life sites and he is definitely keeping them in mind. At first he was wondering if he would have to hire a graphic designer, a webmaster, etc. We really don't know much about computers or the process of setting up a site!!! But for his purposes, these web hosting companies are definitely reasonable for what he needs, if he can just sort of make and manage his own site.

Everyone is just so kind in helping anyone with anything. Thanks. hugs.gif

Anne
I believe every internet provider will give their customers between 2 to 10 megs free pre email address for web space. goodell.org is only using 6 megs. If you use your ISP you will have their name in your domain and that will not look professional. Buying a domain name and web space should be tax deductible.
If your hubby has a logo (businesses card/ letter head) then you can scan that in and use it on his page or hire a graphic designer and maybe give the company a new look. You can use publisher or word to make your site but do some research on “websites do’s and don'ts” and “web sites do’s and don'ts”.
What type of products do you sale?

Web Guy Mike - My husband thinks they may already have a domain, long story. I was aware that the sites the ISP gives you has their name in it also, and would probably only use it for a personal web page.

Another tidbit. I picked up my 11th grader after school and was talking about websites. She tells me that she also knows how to make a website. She too learned it in school. headwall.gif I guess we never mentioned making a business website in front of them.

Great, first it's people from half-way around the world...and now it's children right here in my own country that are taking jobs away from me.

Howdy all,

Been so busy with work that I have not been able to stop by for a while. This time of year we are shooting on location because we are taking advantage of the nice weather. Just haven't had as much time to be online.

Wanted to let all of you know that I just finished working with the News Editor of the EP Trail Gazette on a summer outlook and drought forecast for Estes. The article can be found online at eptrail.com. The title is:

State eases out of drought at 109 percent snowpack ( past Weekend Edition)

Check it out when you get a chance. There was a minor error in the story which sometimes happens when so much information is shared. There is a misquote that says Estes has received snow in every month but July. Actually, Estes, believe it or not, has received snow in every month of the year. Summer snow is not likely but it has happened.

There is a chance I may have a weekly weather column in the paper. I actually did the weather in the paper from 1994 until 2001.

Hope all of you are doing well. I have missed the online conversations and look forward to getting back in the swing of things. I have received some really nice messages and emails from some of you wondering what happened to me. I sure do appreciate that.

Hope all of you are doing well!!!
