Greg, we had about 4" around our house that stayed on the ground for a while. Closer to Allenspark itself, there was 5"-6" but it melted rather quickly yesterday morning.

For those of you headed to Estes this weekend, the weather conditions should be perfect for outdoor activities. The next Pacific storm to hit Estes should be Tuesday into Wednesday. I'll have new updates soon on this system. Looks like great early fall weather between now and then. Check out more updates at:

Hi all,

I thought I would let everyone know that the EP Trail Gazette is running another weather story in their Friday edition. It can also be found at: http://www.eptrail.com, and it will probably be on their site Monday. They usually don't put it on their site the same day it's in the paper, as far as I know.

This is a story on the microclimates in Estes Park. I really enjoyed working with them on this one because it talks about the different weather patterns in Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. I think this is very useful for those who don't realize that 70 degrees in town can mean something totally different above 10,000 feet.

Anyway, check it out. And be sure and let them know in their feedback section if you liked it because this way they will allow me to help them more often with weather stories. I used to do the weather for this paper a few years ago and would like to see more weather articles in print because it is a great way to educate folks on the weather in and around Estes Park. And for those of wondering if this is some type of self-promotion, I don't get a penny for these type of articles. It's just a public service I really enjoy doing for the folks who live in or around this area and of course love Estes Park and RMNP.

Sincerely,
Greg Berman

I'm really looking forward to reading the report on the micro climates of RMNP. It is certainly something that I am very interested in.

Malok

P.S. Perhaps you could post a copy of your articles on your website and add a link to it here.

Hi Malok, I'd be more than happy to do that. The article will be out in Friday's edition and then appear on their website no later than Monday. I'll then place a copy of the article on my site too.

Take care,
Greg

To Malok and others wanting to read the article on Microclimates, the article is already on the Trail Gazette's website.

http://www.eptrail.com (Estes Park Trail Gazette)

I think this will really help those folks who are curious about the weather patterns in town as compared to RMNP. I'm hoping the local papers will continue to run stories like this because they are very educational. That is why if you like the story, be sure and tell them in their feedback section. I'm not sure who the best person to email so I would say the managing editor since that is the person I always reported to in the newspapers I did weather for:

tgeditor@eptrail.com

I know I already mentioned this, and I readlly appreciated Aaron's comments, but for those of you who didn't read my earlier statement, having folks email the paper is in no way self-promotion because I am not paid for this. I have done the weather for 8 papers in Colorado, and we used to put out articles like this all the time. They are not only educational, but believe it or not, they save lives. If I had my way, this paper, the Estes Park Weekly, and other CO papers would run articles like this at least once a week.

And I am going to be repetitious when I write this, but I am really excited to be a part of this listserve. All of you here are really cool, and I have received some really nice emails from those of you who enjoy the weather tidbits. It's obvious I love what I do, and I enjoy sharing it with others. And it's no secret how I feel about Estes Park and RMNP.

Thanks again all!!

Sincerely,
Greg Berman

We were supposed to do a two night hike into the Gorge Lakes area beginning last Tuesday. The Rangers told us about the storm and talked us out of it. We then changed our plans to a Wednesday overnight. However, Trail Ridge Road was closed up until we left on Saturday morning. We hiked about six miles along Trail Ridge Road on Friday night and there was up to three feet of snow in some places. Thursday we hiked up to Spruce Lake and there was between 8 to 12 inches the last two miles. Thank goodness we had our Trek poles!! It was so beautiful though. We just got back to Dallas this afternoon and it is almost 90 degrees outside. I already want to go back!!!!

Hi all,

As mentioned in previous posts, I will soon be giving my site a facelift, along with adding new features. I am open to adding even more features so please don't hesitate to send me your suggestions. I'd love to hear them. I have already received a couple of messages with some really good ideas, and those will be implemented.

Thanks!!

For those of you curious about the upcoming week in Estes Park weather, a couple of minor systems are going to move across town. One will come through on Monday and the other on Friday. Neither of which will be a big deal for the town, except to bring a few scattered showers and thundestorms. For the Park, there could definitely be some snow above 10,000 feet Monday into Tuesday and again Friday into Saturday. Both systems could definitely add some white to the higher peaks in RMNP. It is beginning to get quite cold up in the northern reaches of Canada, and a chunk of that cold air may be moving into the U.S. in the next 7 to 9 days. This could be the first big Arctic outbreak of the fall for the U.S. and possibly lead to a cold blast through Estes in the next 14 days. Stay tuned.

Check out http://www.esteslive.com for the lateast EP weather.

Hi all, a weather change is coming to Estes Park and RMNP. A developing storm system is scheduled to arrive Thursday into Friday. Looks like the town could get their second snowfall of the season, with heavier snow possible for RMNP. I am not ready to call this a major storm, but the sudden intensification over the last 8 hours has definitely caught my eye. I will be working the computer models over the next 12 hours and will then put out my forecasted totals for the town and for RMNP.

Be sure and check out my site for more details on this developing storm system, and I'll also
post some general information here.

Hi all, I just finished with the computer models and my manual analysis on the upcoming storm. Check out http://www.esteslive.com for the latest update possible snowfall amounts. This storm definitely bears watching because it is still developing.

Ah to be where Malok is along Peak to Peak Highway. I am curious to see what the snowfall amounts will be out that way.

And it will be interesting to see what the storm does when it gets out your way Aaron in Lincoln. Soon I'll be adding travel forecasts around the country, and I'll be sure and add those areas that pertain to those folks who visit this listserve.

Have a good evening everyone!!

Greg, we sure appreciate your reports. Thank you also for adding our elevation to your most recent report. We normally have to rely on Estes Park weather reports which are often very different from what we have up here.

Malok
