Here's a lot (187) of photos of our recent backpacking trip starting at the North Inlet TH, going up the Continental Divide and coming back down and out at the Tonahutu TH. This is the longest trip of this type my wife & I have done, about 30 miles with our side-trip to Lake Nokoni.

Monday night we camped at Pine Marten (sorry, no pictures.) Tuesday morning we hiked up to Lake Nokoni; we had wanted to go all the way to Nanita, but had gotten a late start and knew we had a tough climb to move camp up to July for the night. Wednesday was our long day, mostly above treeline. We had gorgeous weather, not a storm in sight, it was truly amazing. We hiked 9 hours (with breaks) that day to arrive at Tonahutu Meadows campsite for the night... I felt like we would never get there. Thursday was our rest day, we slept in, took a long lunch at Granite Falls, and moved camp only a short distance to Sunset. We stayed up for hours just hanging out, taking pictures, watching the sun go down. Friday was a nice short & early hike out to the truck.

Enjoy the photos! caribou.gif

Nice! Thanks for sharing the pics five.gif There's quite a few pics of places I've been interested in for a while. I really like the squirrel gnawing on the elk jaw bone.

Great photo journal!
I wonder if the squirrel actually took down the elk? I heard they're b-a-d on the west side.

laugh.gif Hopefully he remembers where he burried the rest of it for safe keeping... we saw no sign of it.

Space Cowboy, that was a WONDERFUL escape from Texas!!! Just what I needed today :) That was such a cool journal of photos, I felt like I was actually experiencing that with you guys!!! It looks like you were having so much fun. And even after the 9-hour hike, all I saw were fresh, happy smiles. Only thing is. .. .now how am I supposed to get any work done! Sigh.

My favorites were those awesome summit photos! Wow! And of course the marmot photos. I love the one where he's sprawled out over the rock like a beached whale :) I love the squirrel photos too. . .but the dead elk he's chewing on. . .eeeeeeeeeee. . ..great capture tho!!!!

THANK YOU!!!!!

WOW, thank you so much to everyone for your compliments! shakehands.gif

I cannot believe how many hits our photo album has had since I first posted. I'm glad everybody is enjoying the pitcures. We enjoyed taking them. As a side note, I usually have right-click disabled so that our pics don't end up "in the wrong hands" or what have you, but am happy to enable it if there's a photo somebody wants for a desktop wallpaper or something (my favorite use for them.)

Also, pat yourselves on the back, as the discussions on this forum really helped us prepare ourselves to have a great trip. ciao.gif

That is awesome, I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. I find that just adding comments to the photos as I upload them helps me tell the story better than typing out a long trip report. The pictures keep themselves in order, and mostly tell their own story, with just a little help from me.

BTW, the smiley photo taken at Tonahutu Meadows is the next day after a good night's sleep. We were too tired to lift the camera after the 9-hour day. neener.gif
