I posted a few pictures on my flickr account this afternoon. I guess I didn't really do trip reports, but I'm sure you get the idea of what we did this year if you've looked at our photos. It has been fun this week to work on the pictures with iphoto and reflect on our trip and it's been fun to share with you. One of the highlights for us was getting together with others from this forum family. We enjoyed our hike with the Halls. We had met John last year, and meeting Cathy, Sarah, Rebekah, and Aaron was a real pleasure. They are a delightful family! It was good to see Jen, Erik, Joanna, Luke, and the Halls again at the picnic, and to meet the Smiths and PPD and her husband for the first time. By the way, BigAl really isn't really very big!!!

Our hikes were great and it was just plain fun to be away from our routine and spend time in a place we love. God's creation is such an amazing thing! Certainly, hiking to Shelf Lake was probably the most challenging physical thing I have ever done, and I'm so glad I did it. I'm sure that is probably hard for some of you to understand how it can be so hard, but remember that I'm old!

Soon school will be starting and I'll be back at work, but I'll post some cool pics from the trip on the bulletin board by my desk, so that I can take a mini vacation every now and then!

Here is one more picture that we really like.

That's not hard to understand at all! I'm 25 and have always been active, and I thought it was quite difficult getting up there. I'm so glad to hear you made it up there and enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.

Great pic Marsha. Is that Chiquita?

Hiking up to Shelf Lake was a lung buster for me too. It's amazing how far you can get if you just keep going. (However slowly.)

Yes, it's Chiquita! I hope our next trip out to head up that way. I've only been to Chapin and now Ken didn't go all the way to Ypsilon either. I might be tempted to bypass Chiquita though and go directly to Ypsilon.

Nice! I like that one, too!

Oh, I meant to thank BigAl and Ken for getting Michael out of his shell a bit. He's not nearly as social as I am, but someone got on the space subject! nerd.gif

Ken likes to talk about anything that has to do with flying, so he enjoyed the conversation a lot! Come to think of it, Ken likes talking about most anything!

Hey, PPD, Michael talked to ME, too...I asked him about your recent Tetons-Yellowstone-Glacier adventure, and I got several sentences of reply! So, be nice when you comment on his degree of socialness... caribou.gif

Marsha, thanks for the kind comments about my family..."I think I'll keep 'em."

Ah, that must have been while I was looking for nothing over by the stream with Erik and Al. huh.gif

Post - part two (I had to go do something a while ago...)

Let me say that Marsha and Ken are also "delightful" - to use her word - and really great to visit and hike with. Wow, I wish I could keep up with them! Marsha, be sure to pass along to Ken a howdy from me, and my admiration for his hiking "go the distance" abilities...I want to be him!

I have to agree with the "BigAl isn't so big" comment...but he is a great guy, too. In fact, everyone we met at the picnic was "good folks." Aside to DCM, no one there asked anything about "who are your people?" jester.gif

I'll need to take a few minutes this week and come up with a report or trip summary or such, as well. Marsha already said it well...having the pictures up here helps to "be there" all around the year.

Ah, but Prof Hall, you really do get to "be there" again this year. I'm jealous of your fall trip already!

Marsha, you totally get to disclaim the "old" part if you can make it to Shelf and Solitude! Your pictures are awesome, and it's so nice to get your inside scoop on everyone. I sure wish y'all could be there again the fall.

And. . . did I hear that the Professor is going again in the fall????????? Possibly the week of 9/18???????????????????
