This was our second climb up Twin Sisters. The first was during our 2001 vacation. On that occasion, the peak was very windy and cold. The kids stayed in the saddle while Sandy and I climbed the lower, easier summit, took a few pictures, and hussled back down.

We were hoping for better conditions this time. We left the TH at about 6:50am under cloudy skies. During the ascent, the sky cleared, and when we reached the saddle between the peaks at 9:00am conditions were quite nice.

After a snack break, five of us climbed the true peak, and signed the summit log. From across the saddle the summit looks difficult, but there are cairns and the final ascent isn't much more than the last bit of Estes Cone (if you're familiar with that climb). We were joined by two other climbers, and they took a snap shot of our group.

We spent half an hour or so enjoying the view before descending.

There are many chances to view Longs and Meeker, as well as the Mummy Range during the climb. And of course on the summit, the views are very good. I was messing around with B&W and a filter on my digital. The other couple of pictures in this report are B&W.

The Mummy Range from somewhere else along the Twin Sisters trail.

thanks for the report and pics.
That was my first real rmnp hike and in general I think it is underated. I might have to go back some day as I climbed the false summit and never went on over to the tallest sister.

You really should get over there...it's not as far as it looks...maybe another 8-10 minutes from the other summit. Totally worth it though. This pas Sunday I had it all to myself. I looked over at the other summit and saw a bunch of people, but no one came over to hang with me.

Thanks for the report. I've been considering T.S. . I may just have to check her (them?) out this October.

...cool pics too!
