Product Review ::
A wonderful Sunday evening meal after a long day of hiking and driving in RMNP (7/9/06).

* Atmosphere-- 4 stars

Friendly; cozy; nice, but not pretentious. The decor was a sort of fusion of old west and northwoods. I would consider this a little more upscale than many of the restaurants in EP, yet there were plenty of people there in hiking garb (including us).

* Service-- 4 stars

Our waitress was very good. She was prompt and was there when we needed her without being a nuisance, and was very friendly as well. Our food arrived quite quickly after we ordered.

* Food-- 4 1/2 stars

Excellent. I had a down-home classic (honey-dipped fried chicken) and my dad had a grilled chicken breast. Both were outstanding. Dinners are served with whole cranberry sauce (cranberries seem to be a sort of restaurant theme), choice of potato, and soup or salad. The dinner salad looked simple, but was actually unique and very tasty. It had dried cranberries, among a couple other out-of-the-ordinary ingredients that really spiced it up.

* Price-- 3 1/2 stars

We ordered two of the less expensive items on the menu, drank water, and paid between $30 and $35. This was a very reasonable price for what we got. If one were to order drinks or dessert and/or some of the more expensive items on the menu, the bill would be more than this (anywhere up to $50 for two people, I'd say). Overall, about what you'd expect for a place of this quality. Note: lunch menu (somewhat cheaper and smaller portions) available all day.

* Overall-- 4 stars

Highly recommended. Get a reservation if you can, as this place is fairly popular and not too large. But definitely make a stop here for an evening meal while in Estes Park. You won't regret it.

My husband and I ate at The Sundeck on our recent trip and agree with everything said above! One thing to add, though, is that the place is only opened during the "regular" season, and you'll have to check on when it reopens in the spring or summer. We ate there on Oct. 9, and they had a notice posted that they would be closing for the season that weekend. They aren't "winterized".

As for reservations, I would think that would be necessary during the summer, but we had no problem getting a table when we went, and the restaurant, though busy, wasn't full. I got the feeling it's one of those places that are popular with the locals, which nearly always is a good thing!

This site was a great help in planning our trip!

Melanie and I ate there every morning before heading to the park for the day. They have a fabulous breakfast menu, also. Not expensive at all. I really loved the place. The people who work there are very good, and attentive.
