Hey Everyone,
In a recent hike, I came across this animal. I believe it to be a Marten, but I'm not 100% sure. So, any help identifying it would be great!!! How many Marten's live in RMNP?
Here is a link to the picture:

If it's in a tree it's probably a pine marten. Most other weasels (insert joke here) hang around bodies of water or on the ground. Don't know how many are in the park but probably pretty common. I bet most people don't see them though.

Martins --- Not so scary! ////// Marvins --- To be greatly feared!
This was not the real Fox! Must have been an ImFoxter!

I was coming down from Fern Lake, and had just arrived at the Pool, when I saw him moving through the forest. I walked up the trail toward cub lake, and headed him off! LOL!! He was very curious about me and climbed this tree and we watched each other for about 10 minutes before he took off. He was extremely fast!!! I saw a Marten last year on my hike to Thunder Lake, but was to slow with the camera to get a pic, or should I say he was entirely to fast!! There are a couple of other pics of him on this page:

Hey Everyone,
Yes, indeed it is an American Pine Marten! I've been in the park about a hundred times in the last couple of years and never stopped by the museum. Inside there is a display with a stuffed pine marten. Thanks everyone, hopefully you will spot one of these cool critters yourself!!!
