Actually, I was thinking maybe dueling calculators. Or perhaps the deadly financial statement shootout.

Dc,

I've already seen (made up) your itinerary, and you have several very nice hikes planned. I know that I am certainly looking forward to them.

I voted for Adams Falls. I am a bit of a hiking weakling so I enjoyed Adams Falls thoroughly!! I thought for such a short and simple hike it has amazing payoff!! I also love Nymph, Dream and Emerald Lakes.

I am bothered quite a bit by altitude but I MUST see some of the places I have read about or seen pictures of so I guess I'll have to train for RMNP like runners train for a marathon. And before doing what I consider big hikes, I'll have to have a few days to acclimate to the altitude. I would so much love to do Longs Peak someday!!!!!! Imagine Aaron's excitement of getting to take me along!!??!!??!!

It's getting a bit deep in here guys! I wanted to vote for Dream Lake as well, but I picked the CO River Trail simply because it is my favorite quiet hike. I'm usually alone on the trail and can here the water and pick strawberries. (yes, picking some strawberries IS allowed! I asked...)

Voted for Alberta Falls. Just another East-sider! tired.gif

Actually, I've only spent about eight total days in the park, so I haven't seen a lot of this stuff.....yet.

But it sounds like you're hooked! So you'll have the fun of planning future trips and talking about it all with the rest of us. And another thing is that RMNP has close to 350 miles of trails to be hiked. It'll take a while for Erik, aka Malok, to make a dent in that and he lives right next to RMNP. RMNP is his backyard essentially. He provides us our visual fix of RMNP, check out his site...CLICK HERE!!

Trust me, my hiking "wish list" is long enough to book several trips to RMNP, thanks to Jesse Speer and Erik

Well, having just returned (trip report coming), and having just hiked at least 4 of these short hikes, I have to vote for Adams Falls. It is simply a wonderful hike. We did follow someone's suggestion (I think it was in one of my RNMP hiking guides) and continue up trail for a little ways to a big meadow for some fantastic mountain views!

This was our first hike in the park, and it was one of the best. Highly recommended.

What a great thread! I'll be using these suggestions for my trip in October.

Would anyone care to add which of these hikes could be ripe with fall color or good sunset/sunrise hikes?

This is probably a little tougher than those in the list above, but I think Cub Lake would be good for fall color. There is a good stand of aspen that you hike through.
