I am planning a last minute trip to Estes Park over Labor day weekend. We were there the last week of July and it rained every day, starting around 11:30 or 12:00 and continuing for most of the rest of the day, instead of the regular late afternoon thunderstorms everyone expects.
We have never visited in August or September, and I was wondering if we should expect afternoon thunderstorms, or if that type of weather pattern has moved on by the first week of September.

The weather is generally pleasant in September, but I've seen everything from pretty wicked thunderstoms to moderate snow at that time of year.
Odds are you'll have nice, clear days with cool temps, and some rainly afternoons/evenings.
September of course, is wonderful there but the weather can hard to prepare for because of the potential variety of conditions. Getting ready for hot, cold, dry, wet, and snow or any combination of those is tricky.
How long are you guys staying in the park?
Have fun!!

Randy and I were there one year during the labor day weekend. It was very nice. Mid to upper 80's during the week, and lows in the 50's overnight. As soon as we left it got cold and snowed off and on for the next week. Like workrelease said. The weather can vary so come prepared. And I'll guess that you'll have weather as he guessed...
