Well, it has been cold and rainy the last day or so. It looks a lot like it did when Lovethemtns was here, only a bit colder. I just saw that Pikes Peak has a lot of fresh snow on it. You can see the summit webcam here.

It is too cloudy and foggy outside to tell, but I am guessing that we have received a good deal of snow up on Longs Peak as well. Has anyone had any news? This would certainly make for a short summer to get up to the top. The ice just began to clear up this last week. I haven't even been up there yet. :(

This isn't fair professor, you are taking advantage of my situation. Next week it will be even worse as I have classes starting back up again and I'll still be spending my nights up with our newborn.

Aaron, you have to do something to keep this fair! We can't just let people like the professor take advantage of other "senior members"! ;)

Looks like new snow on Longs on the webcams at: RMNP Webcams
Not a ton of new snow but still nice to see. August snow. Sweet. I will be in Colorado four weeks from tomorrow and in RMNP four days after that. Those of you living around there start rounding up the elk and painting those Aspens gold in anticipation of my arrival. Is it September yet?

Edit: I just finished watching alpenglow on the webcams. Certainly looks like some more snow. What a way to start a morning. Only thing better would have been being there.

Well, it has been cold and rainy the last day or so.

I can personally vouch for that. I think I like September better. the weather seems more stable.

September has more stable weather...glad to hear it!!! I've been watching weather.com and not liking what I've been seeing. I'm glad to hear that things might be better when I'm there in 3 weeks.

Have I mentioned that I can't wait?

I dont know about the rest of RMNP but I heard this morning that Trail Ridge is closed due to two feet drifts. It rained like crazy last night here in Loveland and the highs here will only be in the 60s today. I hope this doesn't spoil anyone's plans in Rocky but hey I know alot of people wonder what its like in the winter there so maybe this is an oppurtunity :)

Wow! Check out the webcams. Clearly more snow on the peaks on the divide. RMNP Webcams Now let's not get too crazy with the snow this early. Still have 3 weeks before my trip.

I checked Colordo Road Conditions under Alerts and Conditions and it does show Trailridge closed due to "adverse conditions". I wish I was there rather than in eastern Kansas where at 11:30 a.m. the heat index has already hit 95.

I was on the phone with Anderson Realty in Estes Park a couple of hours ago. They said that, yes, they got a good "dusting" last night. The expectation is that it's going to melt off the lower altitudes pretty quickly today.
I need the snow to be gone by September 23rd!

Like gojayhawks, the thought of snow seems almost impossible today...while we've had a reasonable summer, this last week of August has "cranked up" both heat and humidty. Yuk, it's 95 with a 100 (or more) heat index here. A dusting sounds good right now... ;)

I wouldn't mind a couple of good freezes to kill the bugs prior to my arrival. But, I really am counting on the Trail Ridge Road being open most of my trip, since I'm staging out of Grand Lake. :(

I better pack some extra gear for camping on the Estes Park side as well. I want to be able to dig my way out of my tent if need be. :)
