I thought this could develop into a useful resource. If you have any legit or slang terms to add post a reply with your addition. I'll add all additions into this post.

Chimping - (vb) The act of inspecting your image (on a digital camera LCD screen) immediately after taking a photo.

Chossy -

Class 1 - (n/adj) A sidewalk. You need one foot (sure it'd be hard but you could do it hopping on one foot)

Class 2 - (n/adj) Maybe off trail, you might have to use your hands every once in a while (Chapin or Chiquita). You need two feet.

Class 3 - (n/adj) You have to use your hands often (standard route on Longs). You need two feet and one hand.

Class 4 - (n/adj) You have to use your hands all the time to pull yourself up (you might think about wanting a rope, especially for going down). You need two feet and two hands.

Class 5 - (n/adj.) Rock climbing with rope (The Diamond). You need two feet and two hands and a rope.

Crux - (n) A crucial, or most difficult part of a climb.

GLIC - (n) Grand Lake Ice Cream. Ice cream from Grand Lake Chocolates is commonly referred to as GLIC.

Hallettosis - (n) Addiction or obsession to all things related to Hallett Peak.

Malokian - (pn) A characteristic of a photograph. A photograph that captures the scene well.

Manky - (adj) Inferior and worthless. A climbing term referring to the rock condition. Crumbly, unstable, won't take protection, chossy.

Randoofus - (n) A person known to tease Forum leaders into extreme dorkiness.

Somewhere in one of the forums was a good description of the different classes. If anyone remembers that topic I'd appreciate the help finding it. Or if smudge, Andy, or 'Poke want to provide the definitions I'd appreciate that too. Andy, a little while ago I read you using the word 'manky'. Got a definition for that?

I think somebody responded to a post of mine last year when I was asking about Long's Peak climb. I looked but couldn't find it. Maybe you have a way to dig it up quickly.

As I recall... Class1 - Can Hop on 1 leg or walk on one hand if you had the strength. Class 2 need two legs, or one leg and one arm, or two arms doing a handstand, Class 3 was two legs and an arm, or one leg and two arms, etc, and four was all four limbs required. I was a little funnier than the way I just typed it.

We pastors love words like manky. We aren't allowed to say certain words (reminds me of a great George Carlin routine) so we have to use substitute words. When I stub my toe in the dark, I never feel like saying "verily, verily." But I can't say what I'm thinking either. When my wife hears me nearly sever my toe and goes into hysterical laughter, after she regains enough composure to ask from the other room, "Are you ok, honey?" I can say, "I just broke my toe on the manky coffee table." She will retern to hysterical laughter and I won't have to burn in eternal mankyness for saying the wrong thing.

The general definition of manky is "Inferior and worthless" (thefreedictionary.com, wordreference.com, wordwebonline.com, etc). In climbing and scrambling I think of this as crumbly, unstable, won't take protection, chossy, etc.

It seems that Andy's definition (like #2 above) evolved from #1. The OED is amazing!

I'd say chossy and manky are nearly synonyms. I think chossy is most often used to describe loose talus and the like. The noun form of chossy is also commonly used (although there is no noun form of manky), i.e. Mount Bross is a choss heap.
