Review Product Information ::
  • I found this place in 2001, using an internet search, and we've been staying in the same place every year since then! The rates are reasonable, but remember you are looking at a whole house and not a motel room. And, the rates still seem to be a bit lower than those on the East side in Estes Park.
Product Review ::
A wonderful group of houses on Sun Valley Lake, right by the West Side entrance to the park. The accomodations are first rate, and the owners are great folks. There are four houses to choose from, of differing sizes and price ranges. To see this great home-away-from-home setting, visit Moose Lake Lodge

Stan and Rhonnda Wells are the owners of Moose Lake Lodge, a group of four homes on Sun Valley Lake. This is a very short drive up the road that is immediately across from the entrance to the Kawuneechee (west side) Visitors' Center. You will cross the Colorado River on your way to your chosen cabin...be sure to look for elk and moose every time you drive in and out. And, be on the lookout for moose in the lake and around the cabins, too!

The houses are well-stocked with everything you'll need, except for logical personal items. In prior years we brought our own towels, but now I think that has changed to be provided. We like being able to cook our own meals most of the time, which cuts down on all the eating out costs. It is especially wonderful to sit on the deck each morning and watch the day start, enjoying fresh coffee and the coolness of the mountain air - unless you want to get an early start on a hike, which you can easily do since the cabins are so close to the park's entrance. At Moose Lake, you can be as inactive and quiet or as busy in the park as you wish...Or, you can canoe around in the catch-and-release lake and fish for some trout right by your cabin door.

While it will increase competition for MY week in paradise, I highly recommend the cabins on Sun Valley Lake that make up Moose Lake Lodge.
