Poppy's is on Elkhorn, right across from the Library.
Ok, I admit, the first time we went to Poppy's, it was because we were charmed by the name because that's what our little baby granddaughter calls Bill.
But once we got in, we found that it was a really nice place to eat. It's casual but nice, and they've got Italian food, sandwiches, and a soup and salad bar. Priced affordably, and the windows look out over the little river that runs through the town. On nice days you can sit outside on the patio. Since that first time, we've found ourselves going back again and again. It's such a good choice when you can't figure out exactly what you want because they've got such a nice variety of stuff to choose from.
The service is good, except we have noticed something very peculiar about the difference between the day and night attitudes of the servers. The day workers, although they still serve well, seem to not like each other and seem to not want to be there. At night, they are friendly, seem to be happy and there's a whole different ambience. Hmmmm. Wonder whay that is. But it was the same every single time we went day or night.
Now we have an additional reason for Poppy's being special to us: we have a great memory of eating there one night (while the ambience was great) with Aaron, Jenny and the kids on a cooooold, snowy night.
