(Aaron's Part 3)

Oh, one more thing...

I got a picture of a bear that was stalking me on the trail the other day. I'm serious, this vicious creature followed me for nearly 40 minutes. I was finally able to lose him through a combination of my maneuvering skills and superior intellect. I am, after all, a seasoned veteran.

Latest e-mail from Aaron.

It sure is a change of scenery to be here in Colorado Springs. While I love going to RMNP, it's a good idea to branch out and see a few more places every once in a while. I miss camping a little, though. The "four star hotel" turned out to be the Four Star Hotel. It's not at all what I expected, but it's nice enough, I guess (though our campsite was much closer to the bathroom than our room here is.)

They sure do have strange hours of business here. Everywhere we go, we seem to be timing it wrong. First we went to the Cave of the Winds. We had to wait in line for a while; but when I got to the window, the man said they were closed & slammed the window shut. Same thing happened at Seven Falls. Jenny and the kids got in ok at Santa's Workshop - North Pole, but there was a problem with the fludescope in the van so I had to stay in the parking lot and fix it. (Btw - thanks for the heads up on the "Feed the Reindeer & Petting Zoo" thing there. It's good to have information like that in advance.) I wanted to tour the Airforce Academy while we're here, but Jenny's comment was, "You'd better not press your luck with men in uniform." I'm guessing she's heard that their hours are strange, too.

Well, guess I'd better go now. The kids want to go to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. I've tried to tell them animals are best viewed in the wild (as any seasoned veteran knows), but they've really got their hearts set on it. I guess it will be ok. After all, the animals will all be in enclosures. Not much could happen there, could it?

Tell everyone I said hello.
Aaron

nono.gif You are all going to be in so much trouble when Aaron gets back nono.gif

I'm not too terribly worried about that. Actually, I'm more interested in seeing video of Jenny shooting soft drink out of her nose as she catches up on the posts.

Finally I got a chance to read the whole thread! You guys are hilarious! Thanks for the comedy...at my expense. jester.gif neener.gif tongue_ss.gif

This thread had me laughing so hard my eyes were watering. I would call it crying but all of the sudden Randie's got a problem with crying so I better not call it crying. Thanks again! five.gif

I noticed that we broke 400 plus views on this thread this morning. That has to be some sort of a record for the forum.

Just wanted to add a last word of thanks to all who shared their "reports" from Aaron & Jenny. I have a theory that this thread is going to be a classic (maybe should be pinned, Aaron?) and that phrases from it will come back to haunt us for a long, long time. The very best part about it was that it was collaborative - people took what others had written and really ran with it. A special thanks goes to Marvman, who elevated the whole thing to an entirely new level. There will no doubt be more funning to come on this forum, but I can't believe that anything can live up to the original.

And a very big thanks to Aaron for being such a good sport.

Btw - every time I read (or wrote) "a seasoned veteran", the same phrase kept going though my head...

"I wonder what seasoning they used?"

My mom said we will cook hotdogs on a campfire tonight at Buffalo Rump campground.

I'm surprised that no one ran with this lead. whistling.gif

It's been awhile since this classic has been bumped. What better time than while Aaron is on vacation to bring this to the attention of those who missed it the first time around.

Hope you enjoy! (We sure did.)
