It sure is a change of scenery to be here in Colorado Springs. While I love going to RMNP, it's a good idea to branch out and see a few more places every once in a while. I miss camping a little, though. The "four star hotel" turned out to be the Four Star Hotel. It's not at all what I expected, but it's nice enough, I guess (though our campsite was much closer to the bathroom than our room here is.)
They sure do have strange hours of business here. Everywhere we go, we seem to be timing it wrong. First we went to the Cave of the Winds. We had to wait in line for a while; but when I got to the window, the man said they were closed & slammed the window shut. Same thing happened at Seven Falls. Jenny and the kids got in ok at Santa's Workshop - North Pole, but there was a problem with the fludescope in the van so I had to stay in the parking lot and fix it. (Btw - thanks for the heads up on the "Feed the Reindeer & Petting Zoo" thing there. It's good to have information like that in advance.) I wanted to tour the Airforce Academy while we're here, but Jenny's comment was, "You'd better not press your luck with men in uniform." I'm guessing she's heard that their hours are strange, too.
Well, guess I'd better go now. The kids want to go to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. I've tried to tell them animals are best viewed in the wild (as any seasoned veteran knows), but they've really got their hearts set on it. I guess it will be ok. After all, the animals will all be in enclosures. Not much could happen there, could it?
Tell everyone I said hello.
