Personally, I like the morning. I have the entire day ahead of me and the smell of fresh coffee brewing and breakfast cooking in the campground combined with the fresh mountain air is probably the best smell in the world.

No doubt morning!! Alone on the trails. Wildlife is out. Cool temps. A full day of adventure ahead ...

Personally voted for morning, but is was a close call with evenings. Both have great picture taking but morning won out because it is better for hiking.

Definitely morning for me! For hiking and pictures, and the fact that I'm an early riser...morning is best for me!

I love the mornings too, but I really love how the shadows and light change in the afternoons in Horseshoe Park - especially after a rain storm. :)

I voted morning for all the same reasons, but I would have voted afternoon after rain storms if it had been an option! I love the smell of the mountains after the rain!

I've never been a morning person, but when I'm in RMNP I get up early to avoid the crowds and get back below treeline before the afternoon storms. Usually the highlight of my day is lunch. I've already hiked for several hours and am generally at some high altitude lake or summit about lunch time. For example, early last month I got to Sky Pond about noon and found a grassy spot to the left side of the lake. The grass was dry but very soft. While eating, I reclined on one elbow and used my monocular to watch climbers approach the summit of The Sharktooth. I was so at peace...so relaxed. How I wish I was there right now! Anyway, "noon" wasn't a choice, so I picked "afternoon."

I love early mornings, less crowds and the wildlife. There is nothing better than to see the sun kiss a meadow early in the morning. It restores my soul.

I love the mornings in the mountains with the sun coming up. But, I did wrestle with the evening also. I love that last drive into the park on our last evening at Estes when we drive up Trail Ridge part of the way. It is one of our traditions. But the camaraderie of sitting on the deck with family members drinking that first cup of coffee while looking out at the mountains can not be replaced.

I am a morning person, I love mornings. The cool air, the quiet, the wildlife out in the meadows. The sun peeking over the mountains. I am picturing it in my mind right now. Aaahhhh!! smile1.gif
