I am going through severe Park withdrawal. This is the weekend we would come out to the park. Yesterday it was 94 degrees here in Missouri for the first day of fall. cussing.gif I am so ready for cool weather. It didn't help my withdrawal when this morning while watching the weather channel to see how the hurricane was doing they changed to local weather and showd video of the yellow aspens in Summit Co., Colorado. waaa.gif A few years ago I even planted some aspens here at my house. They have done pretty good but the weather here is hard on them. In the summer if it gets dry I have to keep watering them because they dry really fast. Some of them are about 20 ft. tall. But the leaves don't get very pretty and yellow. They turn more brown than yellow. I think it is because the nights don't get cool enough for them to turn before it is time to fall off.

I hear ya Reeves. I'm having a good pout about not being able to leave as I planned on Sunday. I'm already planning next summer's trip and telling myself it will be longer than the usual week to make up for not being able to go now.

To top it off, we have company from Boulder who brought tons of recent pics. They're killin' me.

I hear ya. We were suppose to go this summer, but were unable to go. So I am bumming, and hoping to make it next summer, or preferably, next fall. smile1.gif

I wish it was closer. That drive across Kansas on I70 is a killer. It takes 15 to 16 hours of driving to get to Estes. Depends on how many stops you make. If gas goes up much higher it will be an out of the question trip.

It's about 9 hrs. across I-80 from where I am. In the last few years both of my brothers (who are also RMNP junkies) have started making it a two-day trip; staying the night in Sidney, NE. In my opinion that is just a waste of time and one less day I can look at the mountains. Once I get headed west I can't stop. If I were even a couple of hours closer I would be making as many weekend trips as I could afford.
