Went up Kenny Mtn. today on a gloriously warm trip in the HOT sun.
We traveled through a burn area most of the way up with very little shade and tough going because of the fallen trees that had died in the fire.
We traveled through quite a few areas like this:

The view from the top looking east:

We skirted a lot of knobs like this one:

The view looking west had a nice perspective of the Diamond:

We could see some of Ypsilon to the NW:

A great day and a good workout.

Yes, this is the one where the tanker came down near the Lyons Gulch trailhead: http://www.thedenver...853/detail.html

Nice views!

Just wondering... Where is this trail in relation to the Sleepy Lion Trail?

No trail, we walk over a lot of logs. The mountain is on the left after passing through Pinewood Springs and then another mile or better. The turn off to Big Elk Meadows goes south across the eastern base of the mountain and Hwy 36 continues along the northern side of it to Estes.
It's possible to hike from the Lyons Gulch trailhead along Hwy 36 but that route would nearly ten miles one way.

Kenny is a great winter hike, those open South slopes keep most of the snow off of them. The views on top are not too bad either!
