Before I do this I just want to make mention of something for everyone to be aware of before coming to RMNP this summer. Back in mid-November we had a terrible wind storm. I'm finding that nearly every trail in the park has many trees which have been blown down. I was on a trail the other day that was so bad that I couldn't see the trail for about half a mile due to all the fallen trees. The NPS is aware of the problem but just doesn't have the resources to handle all of it right away. I think they are starting with the most popular trails and slowly working towards the others. If you plan to hike on any of the less popular trails, be prepared for facing large areas of fallen trees.
One last note before the photos. My spring newsletter is out. You can find it here. Make sure you view these photos Large! Just a disclaimer, a few of them are a bit blurry due to the fact that I resized them too large for this software. If you want to see them as they ought to be you can always go to my website: www.ImagesofRMNP.com
I shot this one earlier this week and was so pleased that this bird actually came to help me out. Whoever you are, thank you!
This was Longs Peak on Wednesday evening
On April 4th we had thick fog so I climbed up onto Lumpy Ridge to see what would happen. Here's my view prior to sunrise.
Here's my view that same morning about 10 minutes later as the sun rose. I'm so happy those clouds parted for me.
This was Dream Lake on April 3rd. Now the lake is mostly clear of snow and ice.
On April 4th after the fog I skied up to the top of Flattop to get this view of Hallett Peak. It was so warm that I skied up in shorts and t-shirt and ended up with one of the worst sunburns I've ever had. Oh well, it was a great day to be in the mountains.
Here's Estes Park and Longs Peak. I have a lot of photos from this amazing morning.
Pasque flowers are out in abundance right now. This was taken last night at Lily Lake and the others from various parts of the park over the last couple of days.
Here's a lichen covered rock which grabbed my attention. It looks like something from under the ocean.
Here's the new Estes Park phone book with my photo put on there at a very awkward angle.
Finally, here's my gallery. They are doing major road construction right now around it and today the gallery will be closed because I can't get in. If all goes well, we should be back up and running tomorrow.
Thanks for letting me post so many photos. I was actually quite restrained as I have many more than these. Yikes!
