Here's a picture I came across on a disk I found at work today....

I'll tell the story of it later. Until then, feel free to make up a story about what may have happened in this picture

ummm.. two wheel drive rust bucket van, parked in front of a no parking at any time sign, back of said van is level with some snow of unknown density. Person sitting on ground looks somewhat chagrined at having a picture taken. Person in van is having a much better time of it, but still shows a bit of embarassment..

To conclude. said van is stuck..

I'm terrible with story telling, but always up for investigating.

Blowing snow, van hasn't moved in awhile judging from the front tires. The road appears to have been worn enough that a number of vehicles had passed here since its parking.

My guess is that it died and these two lads snowshoed back the next day to try and revive it. But to no avail. Those are the expressions I get from their faces.
Only problem with my guess is that there should be footprints in front of the engine if that's the case.

But really though, there has got to be something very funny given the sign posted there.
Doesn't look like a ticket was given (under the wiper blade), but maybe there was a ticket waiting inside? :D Hehehe

After pulling this Detroit iron over for doing fishtails on Bear Lake Road, ranger Suzie makes them wait while she calls in for scales to make sure the it doesn't exceed the weight limit for the Rd. Jokes on her though, half of its original weight has been shed in the form of rust.

I remember this photo from the first time so won't spill it, other than the said lads are forum members.
My comment was (cueing Charlie Daniels music) "If you're gonna play in Rocky ya gotta' have a shovel in the Van."

Harry and Lloyd took a little side-trip to Rocky before heading to Aspen to deliver the briefcase to Mary.

Okay, here's the story. (mkadow is closest in guessing. Jim, you did well remembering the story too  )

That photo was taken after a day of snowshoeing with Malok and CODave (pictured, worn out after we took a break from digging out Erik's van. The plows "buried" it while we were hiking.) Here is a quote that summarizes that... "Back at Bear Lake we came across some FedEx folks who were in the area for some company training. They said that they had spotted the van and that it was indeed packed in by the plow. So when we arrived to the van we started to dig it out with our snowshoes. Shortly after that a nice gentleman arrived in a jeep with a tow rope and offered to pull us out. We wasted no time in taking him up on the offer."

Here is the link to the trip report on that specific day - http://www.rmnpforum...page__hl__stomp

That was a very special STOMP. Good times, great people, special memories. A typical STOMP I guess :yup:

Here's a link to the search results for STOMP 2 - click here -- check it some of those topics for the early days of the forums & the STOMP.
