Decided to join SkiBudFrank and family on their family ski outing. I showed them a route that I used to ski for many years that came from Glacier Gorge.
Frank knows the beginning of the route as it is the same one I use to get to the Stomp camp. Today we went to the "Leak" and then headed down my old ski route.
We could have turned sooner at the swamp with the dead tree but Frank wanted to learn the other leg of the triangle of trails I use through in the area.
I had broke the trail to the leak yesterday so we had Frank's son lead. Here he is cruising on as the rest of us stop to pay homage to JP's leaning tree at the swamp:

I wasn't a long pause to remember the leaning tree story and off we set again:

On through the woods, he lead without fear:

Frank got to wondering what all the picture snapping was about:

After breaking trail on the other leg of my triangle of routes, we dropped down via three nice open ski runs.
I missed getting pictures on the first one but young son came cruising down the second slope:

Mom wore her snowshoes so she could be more mobile and help the kids when they needed it but she did have time to ham it up a time or two:
Ham.jpg

Older son found a route down that suited him quite well, he just had to duck one branch:
Duck.jpg

He was quite happy with the route he found and only having to deal with one branch:
Aaah.jpg

Of course, Frank had to shred the slope:

The last steep run we went down was the steepest of the day and the snow was good enough for Frank:

Young son biffed it so mom came to the rescue as our fearless leader takes on the slope in style:

The slope was a bit steep for the kids but we got down easily enough and headed back to the parking lot.

Great family and trip report. Nice action shots too.

What do you think the snow depth at the leaning tree is?

Thanks Mike, The snow depth right at the tree is only a couple feet, it blows out of there pretty bad. In the woods around that area there was about 4 ft.

My family and I enjoyed a spring like day with Igloo Ed in the park. Casual start to the morning. Igloo Ed met us at our house around 9:00. Off to Bear Lake. Ed had incredible patience while I hearded the family along. Igloo Ed and Ben (Young Son) practicing their tele stance at Bear Lake trail head.

There's always a pond to cross when you travel with Igloo Ed!

Thank You Igloo Ed for taking my family out on such wonderful ski tours! The boys like learning Igloo Ed's trails. In their mind, they know all of them. Good day, the boys slept all the way home.

You're quite welcome, Frank.
Here's another one of young son coming into the top of the great run he had:

It's very cool indeed that kids this age can be persuaded to set aside their video games and do this sort of thing. They'll definitely grow up better for it. HPH
