Didn't have anyone joining me today so I didn't set the alarm. Ended up I slept in and it felt great not to have a schedule but did make it to the trailhead at 9:30
My favorite volunteer was at the trailhead and we had our usual chat to catch up but then he also told me that there was a couple young girls going up to Haiyaha to look for my igloo. He said they had heard about it from friends.
It got me to wondering if they'd seen the igloo here on the forum and it got my interest up, I was going to go to the Lock today, and I headed off towards Haiyaha.
I'd been hoping that with me getting a late start, someone would have broke my route but I found it not broken but easily visible in areas where the snow doesn't drift.
There are a couple willow trees that I've been going through for a long time now. It always feels like going through a doorway:

I wondered all the way to Haiyaha who the young girls would be. I thought I was going to get to see Diane and one of her friends again.
Just as I was getting to the lake, there were a set of ski tracks crossing my route as they often do. Seems some of the guides have a route coming up the Dream lake trail and then crossing over Chaos Canyon and the ski tracks were right where they normally are. I didn't think they were the girls tracks so I headed on out to the lake to see what tracks I could find. Well, I was the first one to the lake so I walked out on the lake to get a good view all around.
I looked up at the igloo and saw ski tracks coming down the slope below the igloo and low and behold , I could see the skiers skinning back up to the igloo for another ski run.
I watched and there were three of them, obviously not the "couple young girls". As I watched, the gait of one of them was all too familiar, it immediately fell together.
SkiBudFrank had finally made up his mind what to do today and came up looking for me. Seeing that my car wasn't in the parking lot, he got my volunteer bud to tell me about the "young girls" to entice me into going up to the igloo.
Frank, Frank, Frank, you'll need to work a lot on the impersonation quality.
I went up to the igloo, hoping to catch them having lunch and we could go down together.
Try as I could we missed each other as I shoed up and they skied down for the last time of the day.
Had a great view of Hallett when I got to the igloo:

Frank's tracks heading down with Ottis for a backdrop:

As I was having lunch, a huge group came out onto the lake below me:

I headed back down the trail to find it pack VERY well from the large group. The trail is looking good for the Stomp.

If that'll get you to come, sure. It's only another 500 ft. gain from last year's camp.

The day looks beautiful. I do believe that today is exactly one year from last year's STOMP - and that day was glorious, too! Sure hope this year's STOMP weather is as good as what you had today. Can't wait!

Oh, only if that's what it takes to get Bill Boo Powers to come.
Heh, I build igloos all over the place through the winter. This would be a lovely place for a camp but I fear not only you would question their ability to get there.

Maybe following 2 unknown girls would get Bill to come. Bill, I heard that 3 weeks from today there are going to be MANY girls searching for an igloo camp. I'm hoping for a pretty day like today, as well as legs and lungs that feel strong. I think it's time we start putting the plastic bags over our heads on our outings now to simulate lack of oxygen!

umm.. it would only increase your effort to ventilate as your respiratory drive is dependent on CO2.. A hypoxic demand would require that you suck all of the oxygen out of your bag after you breath in from it.. Or you could fly at altitude and open the door.. "its up to you"

oh BTW. it was todays topic for class.. and I am just reviewing material.

as for 2 unknown girls.. I'm happy with one that is known.. heh.. nobody else can put up with me..

Well, taked to Frank yesterday and it wasn't him.... The volunteer said a "couple of young girls" so the skiers remain a mystery.

So if it really was two young women, they probably never found your igloo? I imagine they were disappointed if they didn't!
