August will probably have most alpine routes snow/ice free and if bagging a few peak, that should work well.
One thing I'll point out though is the Park instates "Winter Regs." from after Labor Day until Memorial Day. Winter regs. are: camp away from campsites if pads are covered in snow and camp on rock or snow/away from streams. Camping is in zones instead of the campsites and that gives quiet a bit of liberty to where you put your camp. The permits are also much easier to obtain as it seems to be only the hardy ones that camp the shoulder seasons.
The big spring melt down usually begins the week before Memorial Day. It's cool to see the streams opening up down around 9500 ft. and winter still holding on above 11,000 ft.

Igloo Ed:
Pre-Memorial day sounds delightful. Unfortunately for me, my husband is locked into the first week of August because he is meeting up in the Denver area with all of his "over 30 skateboarding buddies" from across the country at that time. Of course I seized the opportunity to finally see RMNP. Really, I am just riding his coat tails to see some different mountains ;)

John: I am sifting through the plethra of ideas you were kind enough to post :)

Welcome! There are many awesome peaks and sights in RMNP... Just remember to take some time to explore along Trail Ridge Road. To do it right usually takes a full day. You could also go to Grand lake (West Side) and have lunch/dinner. Another idea for hiking would be to backpack the Timber Lake trail, stay at the Rockslide or Snowbird site, and summit Mt. Ida... awesome views in every direction!

The West Side is really quite different from the East. You really can't go wrong wherever you go in RMNP...

(I hope to get to GNP someday soon too... just a little too far)

This worked for me... I clicked on my name on the upper right of the page where it shows that I am signed in. When I clicked on that, it listed several options like "My Profile" and "My Settings". The "My Settings" seems to be the one where you change your avatar and signature, etc.

I've been to the "My Settings" repeatedly and still don't see it.

That's interesting. In My Settings "Photo" is the second option to change.. right after "Your Identity URL". And signature is on the list at the left, under Profile Settings, right under "e-mail and Password." That almost makes me wonder if those options are linked to the donations system. Aaron is asking a nominal donation of $15/year to access various parts of the forums. Did not know that those items were part of that, but they may be.

That would make sense since everything I have found says that those items should be there.

I also don't have an edit or delete button so I have to make sure I REALLY want to click the "post" button. ;)
