Frank skied and I snowshoed on what is still some pretty scant snow with a rooten base that allows one to sink to the bottom. I'll have to say that Frank did very well given the conditions.
The trail from last week was mostly drifted over but I was able to stay on the packed trail below the snow covering the trail. Any time we stepped off trail, we would sink up to our knees in the snow.
Well, it was a great day to be out and it didn't take us long at all to get to camp:
It had been overcast most of the way to camp but the sun came out while we had lunch in the igloo:
There were still clouds to the east but the peaks themselves were all lit up:
Estes Park was still in the cloud's shadow:
When taking a close look at the igloos, I noticed I could see Zone Lake and Joyce's Pond down below:
The door and foundation looked great with no sagging at all:
While we were sitting inside the igloo, Frank pointed out that we could see all the way to the bottom when looking out the door:
At this rate, it is going to take a couple more storms before the skiing is good but Frank sure does enjoy himself.
