We'll be building an igloo at Winter Trails Day again this Sat. We'll begin building at 10:00 am.

It would be fun to attend. I wish I could take advantage of RMNP/Forums winter activities.
Maybe one day.....

I hope there's enough new snow for you, Ed. Seems like using the stuff plowed off the parking lot could be something of a struggle -- although I guess it'd make a pretty solid structure. HPH

If there's enough to snowshoe, there is enough to build an igloo.
They've been saving a little area and leaving it unplowed for us. Hope they do the same this year.

We found plenty of snow and some protection from the wind but the snow was horrendous to build with.
We did get the igloo built though and I stopped by to take a picture Sunday morning on the way to Bear Lake:

Nice... we encountered the same thing.. snow that would not pack. broke crust easily, became more like cold corn meal.. I couldn't imagine trying to make an igloo with that..

It works quite well if one does EVERYTHING completely right.

Sounds like fun. Wish I could be there to learn/help.
