I turned off on the route I was up last weekend but today I was heading for Haiyaha to check out the ice in spite of the high winds forecasted. The part of the route we traveled last weekend was hard enough that I booted it most of the way to the lake:
With the early snow this season and the ground still being warm, water is seeping out of the cracks of rocks:
Snow on the tops of rocks melted and formed icicles that have now been shaped by the wind:
I was quite enthused with the amount of ice I was seeing so I went over to check out the leak stream coming from Haiyaha and found a babbling little falls partially covered in ice:
A small shelf of ice suspended above a small section of the babbling falls with currents crossing over the falls:
I followed the Park trail for a while but then headed into the woods to check out the conditions on my regular winter route. I had booted it until I headed into the woods where the snow was deeper and unpacked.
