A unique and mysterious incident, indeed. It seems he was wanting to be in Chaos Canyon and that is intriguing.
Perhaps a lesson was also learnt in assuming one's own capabilities.

I too am glad he is OK. I have done some risky solo hikes myself.

Solo hikers must be realistic about their capabilities. He is very lucky.

I don't think he was a very experienced hiker. To start off so late, wearing jeans, having no idea about the weather, no idea where he was.
