Apparently this also snarled Front Range traffic and closed the schools in Estes Park for the day today (Wednesday). The first big snowfall every year does things like this -- everyone forgets how to drive, and so on. It's nuts.
Which has always made me wonder about the critters. Pictures like that one of the elk (which is probably just looking at the approaching vehicle as much as anything) suggest a sort of "WTF?" confusion about the big change in the environment with snow. Do they remember snow from the previous year? (Do they "remember" in the sense that we understand remembering?)
Anyway, I've read that there's some expectation of a Big Snow Year coming up in Colorado (something to do with a weak La Niņa, blah, blah), so maybe Stomp will be successful even if Chaos Canyon is out of commission due to the road construction lower down. HPH
