Bummer. Do any of our insiders know anything more?

from 9news Denver:

ESTES PARK - A man was killed in a car accident at Rocky Mountain National Park Monday afternoon.

The accident happened on Old Fall River Road, about a half mile above Chasm Falls.

The cause of the accident and the exact cause of death of the man have not yet been determined.

The victim's name will not be released until next of kin are notified.

Old Fall River Road is a narrow, unpaved one-way road that leads from Endovalley to Alpine Visitor Center.

I can't find anything online about it. This seems to be a year for scary news out of RMNP.

It has been a tragic year in the Park, no doubt, but looking back over the previous decade, I'm not sure this year has been that much different, except of course for all of the state and national coverage with the sad end of the Ranger's death. Now RMNP is in the spotlight so everything is a bit more magnified. That doesn't minimize in any way the tragedies that have hit the Estes area. To try and find a silver lining, if we can all learn from what has happened, from hiking to climbing to driving in the Park, then at least these tragic incidences will lead to enough education so these sad endings can be avoided. Let's all hope for better news out of the Park.

I am really curious to learn what happened. The travel on that road is so slow that I can't imagine how a car accident happened. Maybe got too close to the edge when pulling over for someone??????

That is one of the most tragic stories I've ever read. I don't know how his wife will ever get over that, and the child has lost his daddy...it's just too sad to imagine. I hope someone there took that family under their wing until other family members can get there. They are a long way from New Hampshire.

I couldn't agree more, Rhonda, I hope someone took care of them until their family got there. I just can't imagine how lonely she must have felt at that moment. There are a lot of good people out there, I am sure someone helped her out.
