At 1:38 p.m. Saturday, October 1, park dispatch was notified by visitors using the emergency phone at the Lawn Lake Trailhead that a 58-year-old male was feeling ill. The man was approximately ½ to 1 mile from the Lawn Lake Trailhead in Rocky Mountain National Park. Soon after park dispatch was notified that people on scene were administering Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Park rangers reached the 58-year-old man at 2:25 p.m. Rangers began additional medical care but the man remained unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:44 p.m.
The man is from Golden, Colorado his name will be released by the Larimer County Coroner's office when next of kin are notified.
