The clouds are pretty fierce and it is threatening to rain out here, but I don' t think it is going to happen. Yesterday it just managed to spit a bit and for several days before that we didn't get anything even though we had the dark clouds and thunder. Hopefully one of these days soon these clouds will give us a real downpour.

Does it seem like the drought conditions are getting better? (however slow it may be?)

Ok, I was wrong. At 6pm today the clouds finally broke open and it has been raining hard now for the last hour. It is wonderful!

Actually, to answer your question aarond we have made significant progress this year against the drought. Things are much greener, the water levels are up significantly and restrictions have been lowered somewhat. The drought isn't over yet, but we are heading in the right direction, especially if we continue to get rain like we are having now.

P.S. Where is the smiley with the umbrella. :D

As far as the last month goes, is there a pattern as to when the storms seem to be rolling in? (similar times) I'm just curious because the last couple years it seemed like they were coming in later than I expected and not lasting very long at all.

What's it been like this month Erik?

Aaron,

As my wife tells me, I'm not always the most accurate person in the world. But it seems to me that the storms are coming in earlier and lasting longer this year. Even now, just an hour ago it was blue skies all around and right now it is already clouding up and it isn't even 11am yet. I would guess that it will start raining at around 2pm and finish by 6 or so. Mornings seem to be the only real time to enjoy the park lately, but that works for me. :D (The rain makes it a lot easier to keep my head in the books.)

Hey Aaron,
Where is the page that has the links to the webcams. I found some NPS ones but wasn't able to find RMNP. I really like the Longs Peak one you posted. Thanks five.gif

Ok, I am wrong again! What's new. It has been raining and hailing outside since 12:30 this afternoon. We have friends who are climbing Meeker today. I can't imagine that it would be much fun to be out there right now. Ugh.
