We couldn't make it thru the Park on Memorial day weekend due to all the snow. But we knew we were coming back this month. Wrong! We started our trip down south and had made it to the middle of the bridge over the Hoover Dam when our son called and said that his wife was going in for emergency surgery within the hour. Her condition was touch and go, so we made an immediate "turn and burn" and headed home. We did go up 15 to 70 and back thru Denver. But we covered 1870 miles in 36 hours and took 9 & 1/2 hours to get some sleep.
Needless to say, we didn't do any real sightseeing on that trip! All we could do was look with longing as the exit to Grandby passed behind us. And, by the time we could get away again this year, the snow will be too deep again. But our DIL is doing fine and that is a blessing.
So please take lots of pictures for us and we will try again next spring!
Foiled again!

So glad the your DIL is doing well now! Hate that you missed oue but I am feeling the same! We were not able to make a summer trip this year because things were to tight money wise but I have been planning our trip for our 15th ann. for over a year so I have had that to keep me going all this time. But my Dad has become very ill and we have had to cancel the trip. Very worried about my Dad and happy to give up my trip to be home with him right now but its still a bummer.

I am sorry your trip was cancelled, but pleased that your daughter in law is doing well.
The fall pictures should start rolling in shortly. I hope you enjoy them while looking forward to next year.

BobM and Amy, so sorry to hear that family illnesses have been a part of your lives, and that you've had to cancel your trip plans. Good to hear that your daughter-in-law is doing well, and Amy I hope and pray that things will look up for your dad. I'm glad you are able to be there for him.
Mark is right, those fall pics should start rolling in soon! Best wishes to both of you.

Thanks to all for the good wishes. I'll also keep your father in my prayers. My wife and I made a mid-winter trip out while my Mom was sick. We could only get away a few days, but the breath of mountain air sure helped us.

As great as the park is, family first. I've been in the same predicament. Glad both of your emergencies have quieted down. The park will be waiting for all of us till we get back!
God Bless
