Awesome report and great photos! I am curious to know about how long it took you to complete the loop? I have also been thinking about this loop after reading posts about Thunder and Pipit on the forum. Thanks for sharing!

I'm not sure when we started or finished because we don't really keep track. From the first and last photo timestamp it took 7.5 hours between the avalanche damage and the Thunder cabin.

I forgot about my exercise log. The total hike was 11.5 hours.

All I can say is "wow"! That trip required a lot of imagination and trust in the sense of avoiding not getting lost or worse yet stuck. Very well done. Won't see many trip reports like this!

Great report and photos. I recently read "Dannen's" guide describing that area about a week ago. The journey of that route/loop as a "day hike" is an accomplishment. Thanks for sharing. Wow..

Wow! What a marvelous day hike.

I realize this will make me sound like a geezer, but seeing those pictures takes me back decades, to days in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, where we'd be at some destination and someone would say "Let's go up there!" And we would.

I like your idea of advance planning, though -- and I'm glad to have (electronic) topo maps, so I could follow the route. HPH

Oh my gosh! What a report! What a trip! What great photos! I especially enjoyed the stream with the red wildflowers. I made a copy for my screen saver. Thanks for sharing all the details. I have been snowed out of the higher elevations of wild basin twice in 3 years, so I loved seeing the views-- like being there!

What a fabulous hike you two took. Do you know how many miles you hiked? I will have to map it out on TOPO. thanks for posting the report and all those wonderful pictures. What a great day!

I hope you two don't mind my intrusion. This hike just sounded like so much fun, I TOPO'd what I thought you did and, well, here ya go.

Although I would proabably have been satisfied at Manaha Pass and headed back the way I came. You two are Wonder Women!
