On Thurs Sep 1st I decided to just spend the day driving the area through and around RMNP. I drove through Hollowell Park and then headed over Trail Ridge Road over to Grand Lake, spotted a moose in the Kawuneeche Valley but it was pretty well hidden and there were no good pull-off areas so I just drove on. Stopped in Grand Lake for gas and snacks and then continued on towards Granby. I headed up the highway towards Rand & Walden. At Rand I took the country road over to Gould. Stopped at the visitor center between Gould and Cameron Pass and then continued on towards Ft Collins via the Poudre Canyon. Stopped for a while at Poudre Falls and then found a nice little spot along the Poudre River to get out and wade around a little bit. Went through Fort Collins and back through Loveland and the Big Thompson Canyon to Estes. Stopped at Marys Lake for a little bit and enjoyed my own private beach for a while. Then headed down south to Allenspark and just a little above. It was a long day in the car 7-8 hours but it was a lot of fun and I got to see a variety of different areas.

You covered a lot of miles, and your feet didn't hurt.

I love driving days. Can't believe how low Mary's Lake is!

Wow! Although we've covered most of that area on previous trips, we've never done it all in one day.

Way to go!

Driving days are a nice way to recover from hard hiking days. Cool pictures.
